The 200-120 Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exam assesses the knowledge and skills of a candidate in installation, operation, and troubleshooting the network of an enterprise which falls into the small or medium size organizations. - IP Routing Technologies (20%)
Knowledge on IP routing technologies is another significant domain that the candidates taking the exam must focus. This domain requires the candidate to know the basic routing concepts, different routing methods and protocols, and configuration and verification of routers, network devices, network connectivity, Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), interVLAN routing, switch virtual interface (SVI), and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP).

The IP services domain requires the candidates to know the various types of access control lists (ACLs), their features, applications, configuration and verification, and basic operational knowledge of Network Address Translation (NAT) along with its configuration and verification according to the network requirements.
- Network Device Security (10%)
The preparation for the exam also requires focus on the security aspects of the network devices and Virtual teletypes (VTYs) and troubleshoot and resolving issues relating to IP addressing, VLAN, trunking, ACL, spanning tree operation, routing, OSPF, EIRGP, and interVLAN routing.
- Troubleshooting (20%)
Troubleshooting is the other most important domain for the exam which requires the candidates to gain knowledge on the troubleshooting and resolving issues relation to VLAN, ACLs, Layer 1 technologies, spanning tree, routing, OSPF, EIGRP, interVLAN routing, implementation of WAN, EtherChannel and identifying and correcting the common problems encountered in networks.
- WAN Technologies (10%)
The candidates need to have the knowledge about different types of WAN technologies, configuration and verification of WAN connections and PPP connections.
